Commissioned Captain 1st Brigade, 1st Division 1872. Acting Assistant Inspector General of New York 1875. Resigned as Lieutenant Colonel and Chief of Staff 1880. Served as Brevet Colonel in the National Guard of New York 1880. Colombia College AB Degree 1869 and AM Degree 1872. Honorary AB Princeton 1869. Trustee of Princeton Theological Seminary 1887-1896. Treasurer of the Northern Pacific Railroad Company 1879-1888. President of several companies. Manager of the Presbyterian Hospital of New York from 1877. Manager of the American Bible Society from 1879. Member: Sons of the Revolution; Society of Colonial Wars; Saint Andrews Society; Psi Upsilon; and Phi Beta Kappa.
