Sergeant-at-Law in 1837. Prosecutor of Pleas for Essex County, NJ 1828 and for Passaic County, NJ 1838. Twice elected to the New Jersey State Legislature. Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court 1848-1865. Delegate to the New Jersey State Constitutional Convention of 1844. Married 1st Susan Dayton Beasley on 23 Aug 1826.
