Born in Philadelphia, PA on 28 Oct 1888 and died in Haverford, PA on 29 Dec 1984. Member of Troop B, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia 1907-1911. Ensign in the US Naval Reserve May 1917. US Naval Academy Reserve Officer Course. Ensign US Navy Oct 1917. Served as Lieutenant in the US Navy in World War I. Destroyer duty in European waters, based on Queenstown. Resigned Mar 1918. Harvard AB Degree 1910. LLB Degree University of Pennsylvania. Married 1st on 13 Jan 1913 to Cintra Hutchinson. Married 2nd on 5 Oct 1946 to Helen Scott Chance.
