Brevet Captain Joseph Buck

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Sergeant in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line Feb 1777. Ensign 1 Feb 1779. 1st Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line from 6 Mar 1781. Retained in and last served in Cumming’s New Jersey Continental Battalion from Apr 1783. Served to the close of war. Brevet Captain. Born in Fairton, Cumberland County, NJ on 1 May 1758 (or 1753) and died in Millville, NJ on 15 May 1802 or 1803. Colonel in the New Jersey Militia. Sheriff of Cumberland County, NJ 1787-1790.
