Son of propositus Erkuries Beatty. Vice-President of the Society of the Cincinnati in New Jersey 1871-1882. Chaplain General 1863-1866. Chaplain of the Society of the Cincinnati in New Jersey 1867-1871. Born in Princeton, NJ on 4 Jan 1800 and died in Steubenville, OH on 30 Oct 1882. AB Degree from Princeton 1818 and MA Degree 1821. Attended Princeton Seminary 1819-1822. DD and LLD Degrees from Washington College, PA. Ordained on 2 Oct 1822 at Cranbury, NJ. Served as a missionary in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Presbyterian minister in Steubenville, OH for 14 years beginning in 1823. Board of Directors and President of the Western Theological Seminary since its organization in 1827. Lecturer on Practical Theology at Allegheny Seminary 1864-1873. Founded the Steubenville Female Seminary in 1829. Trustee of Washington College in 1863 and was instrumental in Washington College uniting with Jefferson College. Moderator of the General Assembly (OS) of the Presbyterian Church 1862.
