US Consul at Prescott, Canada 1869-1878. General Assistant in the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company 1881-1887. Member of the Council of Proprietors of West Jersey. Judge of the New Jersey Court of Errors and Appeals 1894-1896. Author of Institution of the Society of the Cincinnati, Together With the Roll of the Original, Hereditary, and Honorary Members of the Order in New Jersey. Author of The Origin and Signification of Scottish Surnames. Companion member of Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. Member of the Sons of the Revolution. Married Mary Josephine Abercrombie on 2 Aug 1865.
