Colonel William Malcolm

His service was considered New York service but he has been represented in the New Jersey, New York and Connecticut Societies. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Major and Colonel in a NY Regiment 1776. Colonel in Malcolm’s Additional Regiment 30 Apr 1777. Retired from service on 9 May 1779 when his regiment was consolidated with Spencer’s Regiment. Deputy Adjutant General of the Northern Department 2 Jun to Oct 1778. Served subsequently as Colonel of NY Levies. Born in Balbeadie, Fife, Scotland on 23 Jan 1744/1745 and died in New York, NY on 1 Sep 1791. Freemason and member of Saint John’s Lodge #1 in New York City. Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of New York. Married Abigail Tingley on 5 Oct 1765.
