Robert Harris Overstreet

(2) Great grandson of propositus Thomas Reading. Born in Kansas City, MO on 16 Jan 1889 and died in Houston, TX on 12 Jan 1969. Served with the War Shipping Administration of the US Government during World War I from 1917-1918 and through World War II. 1943-Aug 1947 served with as Director of the Operating Costs Control Division of the US Maritime Commission. When the National Recovery Administration was established, was made Assistant Deputy Administrator in charge of shipping codes. When the Maritime Commssion was organized in 1936, was Chairman of the Committee to Adjust Ocean Mail Contracts. Attended Illinois Institute of Technology. University of Illinois graduate. President of the District of Colombia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution 1953-1954. Married Helen Sylvia Butler on 7 Sep 1912. [Sources: PFAH; (C). Pic: PFAH.]
