Captain Jonathan Holmes

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as an Ensign in Captain John Burrowes’ Company of Forman’s New Jersey 1st Regiment Monmouth County, NJ Militia from Jun to Nov 1776. Then 2nd Lieutenant in the same regiment. 2nd Lieutenant in Heard’s Brigade NJ Militia 14 Jun 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th New Jersey on 28 Nov 1776. 1st Lieutenant on 1 Jan 1777. Taken prisoner at the Battle of Trenton on 2 Jan 1777 and returned to the 2nd Regiment New Jersey Line on 1 Jul 1778. Captain 16 Apr 1780. Served to Apr 1783.
