First Lieutenant Garret Van Wagenen

Joined the NY Society and is represented in the NJ and NY Societies. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Regiment NY Line 28 Jun 1775. 1st Lieutenant 26 Jun 1776. Taken prisoner at Long Island 27 Aug 1776 and exchanged in Jun 1778. Subsequently served as Deputy Commissary of Prisoners. Surgeon in the 1st Regiment New York Line and 8th Regiment Pennsylvania Line. Served to the close of war. Born in New York 21 Jan 1753. Died 20 Nov 1835. Married Sarah Brinckerhoof 11 Mar 1783.
