Ensign William Cotanch

William Cotanch entered service as First Sergeant in Captain Thomas Reading’s Company of the Third Regiment, New Jersey Line 23 Feb 1776 . Commissioned Ensign of Captain William Gifford’s Company 29 Nov 1776, then 2nd Lieutenant in Robert Hagan’s Company 1 Jan 1777. He was retired as supernumerary 28 Apr 1778, then recalled to service as 1st Lieutenant in Captain Richard Edsall’s Company of State Troops 15 Mar 1781 and served in that capacity through 1 Jan 1782.
