Vice-President of the Society of the Cincinnati in New Jersey 1842-1848. Son of propositus Cyrus De Hart. Born in Elizabeth, NJ on 11 Sep 1799 and died in Elizabeth, NJ on 21 Apr 1848. 3rd Lieutenant of Ordnance US Army 1 Jul 1820. US Military Academy graduate in 1820. Made Lieutenant of ordnance in 1822. Transferred to the 2nd Regiment US Army. 1st Lieutenant 10 Oct 1831 he was Aide-de-Camp to General Winfield Scott. On 3 Apr 1838 he was Captain of the 2nd Artillery on the Northern Frontier during disturbances with Canada. In 1847 he served in the Mexican War under General Scott. Served at the Siege of Vera Cruz and the Battle of Cerro Gordo. Was made the Lieutenant Governor of Puebla, Mexico during the siege in Sep to Oct 1847. Author of Observations on Military Law, and the Constitution and Practice of Courts-Martial, 1847. Captain in the 2nd Regiment US Artillery and while in service in Mexico he contracted the illness from which he died in Elizabeth, NJ.
