Major William Barber

Propositus from New Jersey that joined the New York Society. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Ensign in the 3rd Regiment NJ Line 29 Oct 1776. Aide de Camp to General Maxwell 1 Jan 1777 with rank of Captain from 14 Apr 1777. Major and Aide de Camp to General Alexander 7 May 1778 to 15 Jan 1783. Wounded at the Battle of Yorktown 14 Oct 1781. Served to the close of war. The date and place of his birth unknown. Died in 1799. The place of death is unknown. [Sources: M; H.]
