Captain W. Barton

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Ensign in the 4th Regiment NJ Line 23 Nov 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in Captain Abraham Lyon’s Company 17 Feb 1777. 1st Lieutenant Jun 1778. In the 1st Regiment NJ Line. Quartermaster in the 1st Regiment 11 Mar 1780. Transferred to the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 1 Jan 1781. Captain on 28 Dec 1781. Last served as Captain in the 1st Regiment NJ Line. Served to Apr 1783. The date and place of his birth is unknown. Died in Dover Township, Monmouth County, NJ in Apr 1802.
