Captain S. Bowen
He began his service in the Revolutionary War as 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 29 Nov 1775. 1st Lieutenant 29 Nov 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in Captain Samuel Hugg’s Western Company of the 3rd Continental Artillery 1 Mar 1777. Captain-Lieutenant 7 Oct 1777. Wounded at the Battle of Monmouth 28 Jun 1778. Resigned from service as Captain 26 Oct 1778. Also Quartermaster in the Quartermaster General’s Department. Born in Cumberland County, NJ on 21 Jul 1748 and died in Bridgeton, NJ in 1815. After the war was Captain in the New Jersey Militia. Married 1st Miriam Kelsey about 1762.
