Lieutenant Colonel John Conway

First he was a member of the NY Society then the NJ Society. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Captain in the 1st Regiment NJ Line 21 Nov 1775. Wounded at the Battle of Germantown 4 Oct 1777. Served at Valley Forge. Major in the 4th Regiment NJ Line 29 Oct 1778. Lt. Colonel in the 1st Regiment NJ Line on 5 Jul 1779. Retired from service 1 Feb 1781. Born in Woodbridge, NJ on 23 Jan 1742 and died in New York, NY on 6 Dec 1802. Sheriff of Middlesex County, NJ.
