First Lieutenant Eli Elmer

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as 2nd Lieutenant in Captain Samuel Hugg’s Western Company of Artillery. 1st Lieutenant in the Western Company of Artillery in the Continental Army 1 Feb 1777. Last served in the New Jersey State Artillery. Resigned from service on 13 Feb 1780. Born in East Windsor, CT about 1752 and died in 1805-1806. Paymaster of the Militia of Cumberland and Cape May Counties, NJ. Member of the NJ State Convention 1787. Colonel in the New Jersey Militia. Sheriff of Cumberland County, NJ 1784 and Collector of Revenue. Member of the NJ House of Assembly. Married Jane Thompson 13 Feb 1781. [Sources: M; H; (66); (98); (C). Pic: (J).]
