Captain Abraham Appleton

He began his service in the Revolutionary War as Surgeon’s Mate in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 21 Dec 1775 to Nov 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in Captain Thomas Yard’s Company of the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 5 Feb 1777 and 1st Lieutenant and Surgeon 1 Dec 1777. Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 5 Jul 1779. Retained in the New Jersey Battalion (Cumming’s) and served to 3 Nov 1783. Brevet Captain 30 Sep 1783. Date and place of birth unknown.
