Great grandnephew of propositus Jacob Cheesman. Born in New York, NY on 29 Jan 1853 and died in Garrison, NY on 25 Feb 1919. Member of Veteran K Company, 7th Regiment NY National Guard. Major and Surgeon of the Veteran Corps of Artillery, State of New York. Colombia College BA Degree 1874 and MA Degree 1877. MD Degree from Colombia School of Medicine 1878. Practiced medicine in New York. Trustee of Colombia 1904-1916. Assistant Instructor in Bacteriology at Colombia University, NY School of Medicine 1888-1893 and Instructor 1893-1899. Member of the New York Academy of Science. Member: Military Society of the War of 1812; Naval Order of the US; Saint Nicholas Society; and Delta Phi. Freemason-33.
