Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Ensign in Colonel Forman’s Battalion, General Heard’s Brigade NJ State Troops 14 Jun 1776. Took part in the Battle of Long Island 27 Aug 1776. Ensign in the 4th Regiment NJ Line 2 Nov 1776. 2nd Lieutenant 1 Jan 1777. 1st Lieutenant 23 Nov 1777. Transferred to the 1st Regiment NJ Line 1 Jul 1778. Brevet Captain 30 Sep 1783. He was retained in and last served in Cummings New Jersey Continental Battalion from Apr 1783. Served to 3 Nov 1783.Born in 1755. The place of birth is unknown. Died in New York, NY on 22 Sep 1835. After the Revolution served as Major in the 15th US Infantry 1 May 1812. Lt. Colonel in the 14th US Infantry 14 Nov 1813to 15 Jun 1815 during the War of 1812. [Sources:; ; (66); (98); (C).]
