A member of the Rhode Island Society, some of his descendants joined the New Jersey Society. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Lieutenant in the 3rd Regiment RI Line 2 Jun 1775. Taken prisoner at the Siege of Quebec 31 Dec 1775 and exchanged in 1776. 1st Lieutenant in the 1st Regiment RI Line 1 Jan 1777. Captain 26 May 1778. Resigned from service 9 Nov 1779. [Sources: M; H.]
