Captain Derick Lane

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as 2nd Lieutenant in Colonel Hunt’s Battalion, Heard’s Brigade NJ State Troops 20 Jun 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th Regiment NJ Line 28 Nov 1776. 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment NJ Line 5 Feb 1777. 1st Lieutenant on 8 Nov 1777 and Regimental Quartermaster 3 Apr 1779. Fought in the Battles of White Plains, Long Island, Short Hills, Brandywine, Monmouth and Yorktown. Captain-Lieutenant 5 Jul 1779. Captain in the 2nd Regiment New Jersey Line 11 Feb 1783. Retained in and last served in Cumming’s New Jersey Continental Battalion from Apr 1783. Served to 3 Nov 1783. After the Revolution he served as Captain in the US Infantry in 1784 and resigned on 24 Nov 1785. Born in Bedminster, NY 30 Apr 1755 and died in Troy, NY on 26 Mar 1831. Mercantile Business. Colonel in the Rensselaer County, NY Militia Regiment 1798. Representative in the New York Assembly 1809. President of the Village of Troy, NY 1814-1815. Alderman in Troy, NY 1822. Loan Commissioner for Rensselaer County, NY. Married 1st Maria Lansing 26 Jan 1789. Married 2nd Angelica Van Rensselaer 14 Jul 1805.
