Brevet Captain Abraham Stout

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Sergeant in the 3rd Regiment NJ Line 7 Feb 1776. Ensign 29 Oct 1776. 2nd Lieutenant 24 Nov 1776. 1st Lieutenant 1 Jan 1778. Taken prisoner 5 Apr 1778 at Cooper’s Ferry and exchanged 2 Dec 1780. Captain by Brevet in the 2nd Regiment New Jersey Line. He was born in Hopewell, NJ on 14 Jul 1754 and died in Nashville, TN on 11 Jul 1821. Married Jane Pettit on 10 May 1777.
