Captain Peter Dickerson

The line was later declared ineligible for less than three years service. Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Captain in the 3rd Regiment New Jersey Line 5 Mar 1776 to 10 Nov 1776 and resigned 26 Oct 1777. Last served in the 2nd Regiment New Jersey Line. He is listed as having retired from service on 26 Sep 1780 which is clearly after the date of death. Born in Southold, Long Island, NY in 1724 and died in service on 10 May 1780. Before the Revolution became owner of the Dickerson Iron Mines. Member of the first Provincial Congress of New Jersey in 1775. Speaker of the Constitutional Congress of New Jersey. Married Ruth Coe.
