Surgeon Lewis Wilson

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as Surgeon’s Mate in the Hospital Department 7 Jan 1777. Surgeon 30 Jun 1779. Served to Oct 1780. Born on the Island of St. Christophers, West Indies on 13 Jun 1753 and died in Statesville, North Carolina on 11 Dec 1804. Buried in Iredell County, NC. Princeton graduate 1773. Tutor at Princeton 1774-1775. Studied medicine under Dr. William Shippen. After the war he was a practicing physician in Princeton, NJ and in North Carolina. Left medicine and became an ordained Presbyterian minister in 1791. Pastor of Fourth Creek and Concord Churches in North Carolina in 1793. Involved in the revivals of the times.
