Began his service in the Revolutionary War as 1st Lieutenant in Captain John Burrowes’ Company of Forman’s NJ Militia, 1st Regiment, May to Nov 1776. Captain in the 1st Regiment NJ Line 23 Nov 1776. Major 20 Nov 1781. Served as Lt. Colonel of the 2nd Regiment, NJ Line 11 Feb 1783. Retained in and last served in Cummings’ New Jersey Continental Battalion from Apr 1783. Served to 13 Nov 1783. The first Vice-President of the Society of the Cincinnati in New Jersey 1783. Born in Middletown Point, NJ on 16 Oct 1755 and died in Cazenovia, NY on 26 May 1809. Lt. Colonel 3rd Regiment NJ Militia during the Whiskey Rebellion 24 Sep 1794. Brigadier General, NY Militia 14 Apr 1800 to 1804. Married Mary Ledyard on 5 Mar 1782.
