Captain James Francis Moore, III

Began his service in the Revolutionary War as 1st Lieutenant in Miles PA Rifle Regiment 19 Mar 1776. Fought in the Battle of Long Island. Captain 27 Aug 1776. His regiment combined with the PA State Regiment of Foot 5 Oct 1776. Captain 25 Oct 1776. The Regiment became the 13th PA Regiment Continental Line 12 Nov 1777. Made supernumerary 1 Jul 1778 and transferred to the 8th PA Regiment. Served to 2 Aug 1779. Deputy Commissary General under General George Rogers Clark’s Illinois Regiment in Continental Service 3 Apr 1780 and served to Oct 1783. Colonel of the Jefferson County, KY Militia in 1789. Born in Baltimore, MD on 12 Aug 1751 and died in Frankford, KY on 14 Dec 1809. Married 1st Elizabeth Higgins about 1784. Married 2nd Ann Standiford on 18 Feb 1773.
